M F Hussain Died in London

M F Hussain (Maqbool Fida Husain), India's well known artists, died of a heart attack at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London at 2:30 am local time on Thursday. M F Hussain was at the age of 96. PTI quoting family sources reported that Mr Husain had been in indifferent health for over a month.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Mr Husain's death is "a national loss." President Pratibha Patil said his death "left a void in the world of art."

M F Hussain was on a self-imposed exile and was living in Qatar. M F Hussain had faced the ire of right wing groups for his bold portrayal of Hindu deities, especially the Shiv Sena and VHP. He also faced death threats. Media Reported that M F Hussain died of heart attack.
